WASHINGTON — McDonald's Chicken Big Mac, a reimagined version of the fan-favorite menu item, will make its U.S. debut next week.

The highly anticipated sandwich has been featured in menus around the world, including the United Kingdom where it sold out days after debuting in 2022. McDonald's Chicken Big Mac was also tested in Miami during the same year.

Staring on Oct. 10, McDonald's connoisseurs across the U.S. will be able to taste the fast-food chain's latest take on the classic sandwich — though some already have.

McDonald's secretly tested the newest U.S. launch last weekend at "McDonnell's," a Los Angeles pop-up dining experience hosted by Chain, the company said. For one day only, attendees were able to try a chicken sandwich that featured the same items as the Chicken Big Mac — two chicken patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese and pickles on a sesame bun.

Some even claimed "McDonnell's" as a dupe to the fast-food chain.

“With the introduction of the Chicken Big Mac, we’re excited to pay homage to one of our most iconic menu items, the Big Mac, and introduce it to a whole new generation of fans,” Tariq Hassan, Chief Marketing and Customer Experience Officer at McDonald’s USA, said in a statement.

The fast-food chain also teased a collaboration with Twitch streamer and internet star Kai Cenat for the Chicken Big Mac's campaign, as it looks to cater to a younger demographic. Cenat, who has over 13.4 million followers on Twitch, will be trying the new chicken sandwich on livestream with his famous friends over the next month. according to the press release.

The new menu item will be sold for a limited time at participating U.S. locations.

McDonald's and other fast-food chains have been ramping up their deals and menu items in an attempt to boost restaurant visits. As grocery price inflation has slowed, more Americans are choosing to eat at home, causing a sales slump for fast-food companies.

Just last month, McDonald's extended its $5 value meal until December. The meal, which was introduced in June after a disappointing first quarter with less U.S. visits and lower spending per order, has been extended twice and was originally only supposed to last a month.
