Motorcyclist killed in east Macon crash

Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones says the motorcyclist injured in a crash earlier has died

MACON, Ga. — A motorcyclist is dead after a wreck that happened Wednesday afternoon.

According to a news release from the Bibb Sheriff's Office, it happened at the intersection of Emery Highway and Lakeside Road around 2 p.m.

The motorcyclist, identified as 53-year-old Eric Ashley, of Lizella, was going west on Emery Highway while a 2004 Nissan Murano driven by 46-year-old David Draper, of Perry, was turning left onto Lakeside Road from the highway. 

The two collided, and the motorcyclist was injured.

Bibb Coroner Leon Jones says he pronounced Ashley dead around 2:30 p.m. in the Medical Center emergency room. The cause of death was listed as blunt force trauma.

The accident is under investigation and more information will be released as it’s available.
