Macon man sentenced for killing bystander during argument

The argument began after one man accused the other of cheating with his girlfriend

MACON, Ga. — A Macon man will spend at least 15 years in prison for fatally shooting a bystander to an argument that happened in December 2017.

According to a news release, 26-year-old Demarcus Colson pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter of Keenan Guice, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm by a first offender probationer during a Bibb County court hearing.

He was then sentenced to 30 years, with the first 15 to be served in prison.

24-year-old Markeyshia Milligan was also sentenced to five years in prison after pleading guilty to hindering the apprehension of Colson.

CASE INFORMATION

Back on Dec. 18, 2017, a man confronted Markeyshia Milligan because he was upset her boyfriend, Demarcus Colson, was involved with his girlfriend.

That night, Colson and a friend went to confront the man at his Riley Avenue apartment complex.

There was an argument and then shots were fired at the man who confronted Milligan and his friend, Keenan Guice.

Guice later died, and evidence shows that he was a bystander to the argument between the parties and was not involved.

Colson ran away after the shooting and then Milligan took him to her father’s Atlanta home where they were found and arrested two days later.
