Macon gang member sentenced for burglary, shooting at woman and kids

MACON, Ga. — A known Macon gang member is headed to prison after he was involved in burglarizing a woman’s home and then shooting at her and her children when they got home.

According to a news release from the district attorney’s office, 24-year-old Markell Clark, was sentenced Monday to 20 years after pleading guilty to aggravated assault, burglary, and violating Georgia’s Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act. The first 10 years must be served in prison.

While on probation, he must abide by gang conditions.

The victim was coming home to her house on Somerset Drive on Oct. 18, 2016, when she found a car in her driveway.

When her headlights hit the front of the house, she saw several people running out of it. One of them fired a shot at the victim’s car while she and her two children were inside. No one was injured.

Deputies found the house had been ransacked. Two other people charged have pending cases.
