Pregnant woman, unborn child killed in wreck on I-75N near Forsyth Street exit

Clarita Blackshear was pregnant and due to give birth next week. Both the mother and the unborn child were declared dead at the scene.

MACON, Ga. — A woman is dead after an accident on I-75N Friday afternoon and the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating.

According to a news release, it happened around 3 p.m. on I-75N near the Forsyth Street off-ramp.

It was reported to deputies that a Toyota 4Runner was going north on the interstate when the driver lost control, hit the center median, and overturned just north of the off-ramp.

The female driver was pronounced dead at the scene by Coroner Leon Jones. She was identified as 21-year-old Clarita Blackshear, of Warner Robins.

Jones says Blackshear was pregnant and due to give birth next week. The unborn child did not survive.

No one else was injured in the accident.
