Man arrested for hitting, killing woman with car in September, BSO says

Coroner Leon Jones said it happened sometime Saturday night

MACON, Ga. — UPDATE: A man has been arrested for a September hit-and-run which killed a woman in South Bibb County, according to a press release from the Bibb County Sheriff's Office.

They say Tony Bernard Feagin turned himself in on Nov. 11 after hitting a woman while driving on Hawkinsville Road on Sept. 29, 2024. Hatima Ayana Wilkins was dead by the time authorities arrived at the scene, per the release.

The release says Feagin is being held in the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center on charges of first degree vehicular homicide, failure to maintain lane and more. He is being held without bond.

ORIGINAL STORY: A woman is dead after being hit by a car in south Bibb, near the Middle Georgia Regional Airport, coroner Leon Jones said.

Jones said that a man called the Houston County Sheriff's Office sometime around 2:30 p.m. on Sunday saying that he hit a deer along the 7000 block of Hawkinsville Road early that morning.

Today, the sheriff's office now believes the man hit Hatima Wilkins, 25, in Bibb County.

The Bibb County Sheriff's Office said that deputies found the woman dead on Hawkinsville Road, south of Feagin Road. Next of kin has been informed.
