The city of Warner Robins is putting the finishing touches on the plans for the Independence Day Celebration.
Gates will open at McConnell-Talbert Stadium parking lot at 6 p.m. on Friday, June 30th.
There will be parking at the following areas around the stadium:
- Union Grove Baptist Church Field
- C.B. Watson School – VIP/Handicap parking only
- Warner Robins High School – pick-up/drop-off only
- Pearl Stephens School
- Rumble Academy
- Sacred Heart Catholic Church
- Robins Federal Credit Union
- Middle Georgia State University
- Commercial Circle
- Warner Robins City Hall
Organizers say spectators can start parking at 3-4:00p.m., but will not be allowed into the stadium parking lot until 6:00p.m. There will be no shuttles to and from the parking lots, but there will be designated walking areas.
Warner Robins Police will be checking all bags and coolers coming into the parking lot, so give yourself extra time to get through security.
Mary Kate Farmer will kick off the concert starting at around 7:30p.m. Montgomery Gentry will follow immediately after at around 8:15p.m.
The duo will perform up until the fireworks starting at around 10:00p.m. once it is fully dark.
Mandy Stella, one of the organizers, says the fireworks will last about 30 minutes and will be accompanied with patriotic music. She said one of the biggest complaints last year was the fireworks music was not patriotic-themed.
This year the concert will have a new Kids’ Zone.
Last year, the IDC brought in 15,000 spectators. This year, due to Montgomery Gentry, organizers are expecting more. Capacity for the parking lot is 25,000.
The event is free and open to the public. No tickets are required.
S Davis Drive will close for the fireworks portion of the show. Demon Valley Drive will be closed to all traffic starting at 3:00p.m. on June 30th.
Prohibited items include firearms, alcohol, drones, rolling coolers, hard-sided coolers, pets, outside food and opened drinks, large umbrellas and tents.
Concert-goers are allowed to bring in small soft-sided coolers with sealed, unopened drinks, lawn chairs, diaper bags, and other bags necessary for medical care or infant-care.
All persons and bags are subject to search.
