Here's what you need to know for the Warner Robins Independence Day Concert

Two of the artists were scheduled to perform at last year's festivities but were sidelined due to weather.

WARNER ROBINS, Ga. — (UPDATE 6:21 p.m.)

Entry for the Warner Robins Independence Day Concert has been opened.

Attendees are now being allowed in.

Get ready to rock at the Warner Robins Independence Day Celebration! The city announced the line-up for the annual free concert scheduled for June 29.

The Independence Day Celebration in Warner Robins is also celebrating its 41st year kicking off the July 4th holiday festivities. 

Scott Stapp — the lead singer of Creed  and 70s classic Jefferson Starship whose hit "We Built This City" will be rocking through the parking lot of McConnell-Talbert Stadium.

"Due to overwhelming community feedback following last year's rainout, the City of Warner Robins is delighted to bring back two powerhouse acts that were unable to perform," the city said in a press release. "It promises to be an evening filled with electrifying performances and musical magic." 

Here is a guide to help you have the most patriotic fun during the event. 

When is the concert? 

June 29 in the parking lot of McConnell-Talbert Stadium. Gates open at 6 p.m. and the festivities start at 7 p.m.

Who is Performing?

Enjoy pre-concert beats by local favorite AJ The DJ Entertainment 

Scott Stapp — the lead singer of Creed  and 70s classic Jefferson Starship whose hit "We Built This City" are headlining the concert.

Both acts had previously been slated to perform last July, but they were sidelined due to weather issues. Now, they'll be back in Central Georgia to help celebrate Independence Day with hopefully sunnier skies.

After the show, there will be a fireworks extravaganza!

How do I get into the venue and where can I park? Are there road closures?

Gates open at 6 p.m. with entertainment from AJ the DJ

The event begins at approximately 7 p.m.

Fireworks will be at approximately 10 p.m. (Weather permitting and times are subject to change)

Gates for public entry: MLK Blvd, and S. Davis Drive.

Road Closures

  • 4 p.m. – Demon Valley Dr. will be established as a NO PARKING ZONE.
  • 6 p.m. – MLK Blvd. from S. Davis Dr. to Pearl Stephens Way will be restricted to eastbound traffic flow. Please enter the venue area from S. Davis Dr. ONLY
  • 6:45 p.m. – S. Davis Dr. from MLK Blvd. to Demon Valley Dr. will be closed to all vehicular traffic & detours established. Pedestrian traffic on sidewalks will be allowed until the fireworks display begins.
  • 9:45 p.m. Demon Valley Dr. will be closed for the duration of the fireworks display

Gates for public entry: MLK Blvd, and S. Davis Drive.

There are 10 designated parking areas:

  • Union Grove Baptist
  • C.B. Watson School- Handicap
  • Warner Robins High School - Pickup/Dropoff/Uber/Lyft
  • Pearl Stephens School Area
  • Rumble Academy
  • Sacred Heart Catholic Church Complex
  • Robins Financial Credit Union
  • Middle Georgia State University
  • Commercial Circle Area
  • City of Warner Robins Municipal Complex

What can I expect? 

There will be activities galore to keep the little ones entertained, from face painting to balloon animals and everything in between. Some of America's greatest superheroes will make special guest appearances throughout the night to share inspiring stories and spread patriotic cheer.

After the sun goes down, the concert will be followed by the Fireworks Extravaganza.

There will also be over 20 food trucks for people to enjoy during the concert.

What can I bring and What can't I bring inside the venue? 

Before you enter the venue, you need to know a couple of things about bags and items allowed at the gates.

Prohibited items:

  •  drones
  • fireworks
  • glass bottles/containers
  • alcoholic beverages
  • rolling or hard-sided coolers
  • pets (except for service animals)
  • outside food and open drinks
  • large umbrellas (beach type)
  • portable canopies/tents
  • any type of firearm/weapon (includes pepper spray, gun, knife, taser, etc.)

Allowed items:

  • lawn chairs
  • diaper bags
  • ground blankets
  • small umbrellas
  • small soft-sided coolers
  • sealed drinks, bottled water etc. 
  • medicine/insulin, baby formula etc.

All people are subject to search, and all items will be searched.

Will there be fireworks?

Like many Fourth of July celebrations, the night will end with a fireworks show by Robins Financial Union.

The Fireworks Extravaganza will be loud and bright; if you have young children or babies, earplugs or headphones are encouraged to protect their ears. 

Attendees of the event should be prepared for a safe and fun celebration that the whole family can enjoy.
