MACON, Ga. — The Man of Steel could soon be making his way to Macon! Here's what we know about filming and the project so far.
In April, casting directors were looking for extras for filming in Macon. At the time the film's working title was "Genesis."
Last year “Hollywood North Buzz” reported it is “Superman: Legacy,” the first installment of James Gunn’s reboot of the DC Universe.
On Feb. 29, the first day of principal photography on the film, director Gunn announced he renamed the final script simply “Superman” and removed “Legacy” from the title.

Director James Gunn also shared a cast picture during filming in February on Instagram.
Gunn also shared a first look at the hero in costume on Instagram.
The Plot:
There isn't much known about the plot of the movie so far. However, James Gunn and the actor playing the Man of Steel, David Corenswet, have provided some hints.
At a convention, he said it's a movie about "time and space and music and love and loss."
On Twitter, Gunn says the film is heavily inspired by his love of Superman for All Seasons and All-Star Superman.
According to the fandom wiki, Superman for All Seasons "was a four-issue Superman miniseries published in 1998, written by Jeph Loeb and illustrated by Tim Sale. Each issue features a different season of the year, both literally and metaphorically. The four issues are each first-person narratives of different people in Superman's life, and their perspectives on him."
The cast was also seen in another tweet reading from All-Star Superman issues.
The fandom wiki for the 12-issue comic series says All-Star Superman, takes place in an alternate universe after Superman gets a fatal dose of radiation from Lex Luthor he then goes about completing several final tasks. These tasks include the creation of a second Superman to protect Earth in the event of his death.
This will be the first film in the new DC Universe.
The DC Extended Universe (DCEU) ended officially with the last Aquaman film, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.
When Discovery Inc. acquired DC and Warner Bros. parent company WarnerMedia in 2022, the new CEO David Zaslav wanted to completely overhaul the DCEU. The universe had seen some box office flops and disappointment from fans.
Gunn and Peter Safran were then announced as co-chairmen and CEO's of DC Studios, the successor to DC Films.
Some films from the DCEU are going to carried over into the new universe and others are not.
Gunn and Safran have laid out plans for the first chapter — themed “Gods and Monsters” — which has an ambitious eight- to 10-year plan to reshape the DCU.

Filming in Macon:
We found lots of evidence of Gunn's 'Superman' filming in Macon. 13WMAZ received the filming contract between the studio and Macon-Bibb County.
The contract shows the location manager, Adrienne Bugbee, has a Warner Brothers Production email address.
It also lists the production company as S&K Productions. According to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, S&K Productions is a subsidiary of Warner Bros. Discovery, Inc.
The contract also uses the name "Genesis" to describe the filming project. We reported early that this is an early title for the film.

James Gunn's 'Superman' filming in Macon
We know several streets are going to be closed off throughout May and June for filming, mainly Cherry and Poplar streets.
The contract says the studio paid $23,650 after fees for sidewalk and road closures during filming.
At Terminal Station, you can see a large scaffolding being erected in front of the building, moving equipment, Sheriff's Office patrol cars and signs from crew parking.
Maybe soon, we'll see the Man of Steel flying over downtown Macon.
Gunn's 'Superman' is set to release in theaters on July 11, 2025.
