How this weekend's severe weather damaged property in Monroe County

Ronda Price said she's still trying to make sense of how one storm caused so much damage near her home

JULIETTE, Ga. — Monroe County saw its share of storm damage over the weekend.

At a home in Juliette, on Barrystone Road, Ronda Price said it looked like Mother Nature was angry at someone over the weekend.

"It feels like it's a mess. It's gonna take a lot to clean it up," she said.

Price has lived at her property for about eight years with her dog and husband. Since Saturday, their normal home routine has been uprooted — just like their trees in the front and backyard.

"It busted the light, all this had to be cut away from all the lines. They were just lying across the ground. We were afraid to let our dog out for fear she might get on a live wire," Price said.

She said around 3:30 p.m. one of the trees on the side of her house fell down and shook the whole house when it did. It split into multiple pieces, and damaged the power lines, leaving them without any power for about seven hours on Saturday before Georgia EMC restored it.

Broken trees completely blocked one entrance into her driveway, and partially blocked the other entrance too.

She said both she and her husband couldn't remove the heavy trees themselves, which is why they called James Bradley, who owns Bradley Tree Works.

"I'm really shocked at how much damage they had right here," Bradley said.

Since Saturday, he said they've gotten about 20 calls for help with all kinds of storm damage.

"Tree limbs on a house. Over in East Macon seeing a big tree down on a couple of cars," Bradley said.

It was a match of man versus nature. Six men from Bradley Tree Works took on at least ten trees, cutting them down and moving them off the property.

Price said her insurance paid for some of it, and she paid for the rest out of pocket, but it was worth the peace of mind it gave her.

"There's a tree hanging on a tree that could fall on your car," Price said.

She's just thankful everybody stayed safe and Mother Nature wasn't angry enough to send one of these trees through her house.
