'He must serve every day of that sentence' | Warner Robins man sentenced to 35 years on drug, gun charges

Kourtney McKenzie was convicted Thursday and sentenced to 35 years in prison, Houston County District Attorney's Office says.

HOUSTON COUNTY, Ga. — A Warner Robins man was sentenced to 35 years in prison Thursday after a search found four pounds of meth at his home, the Houston County District Attorney's Office said in a press release.

It all stems from a Dec. 6, 2022 search of Kourtney Trivelle McKenzie's home. There, Warner Robins Narcotics Investigators found the four pounds of meth, "numerous other types of narcotics" along with three guns, the press release said.

"Those who peddle the poison fueling addictions, causing death and all the subsequent crimes have no place in Houston County," District Attorney Will Kendall said in the release. "A person who deals poison to profit from addicts should be behind bars for the foreseeable future, and that is exactly what has happened here."

A Houston County jury convicted McKenzie Thursday for possession of meth with intent to distribute, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a firearm during a felony.

They say he'll not be eligible for parole so he'll serve "every day of that sentence," the district attorney's office said.

Kendall added: "Due to McKenzie's poor life choices, he will be [in his] 70's when he is released from prison."

But it isn't the first time McKenzie has been in legal trouble.

According to the press release, McKenzie was already on probation for a 2022 conviction out of Clayton County. There, they say he was facing similar trafficking and firearm charges.

The search warrant for McKenzie's home was done as a result of his probation. The press release says it was part of "a compliance check" for the Department of Community Supervision, the release says.

They also say he is a convicted felon with other convictions out of Sumter and Macon County Superior Courts.
