Northside High's class of 1980 held an appreciation day for their educators.

Most successful people say they were influenced by someone, and many times it's their educator.

Saturday, some former Northside High School students held an appreciation day for teachers that they say made a difference in their lives 34 years ago.

The class of 1980 organized the reunion.

Class President Sarah Braswell says she had the idea in mind 20 years ago.

Braswell says her classmates were thrilled to invite all of their teachers back to the school for the get-together.

"Many of our classmates are doing wonderful things, because of what they did. Teachers make a difference," said Braswell.

Nearly 40 faculty members showed up, including former Principal Matt Arthur.

"I kind of feel like they're my children. I'm proud of them. I wish them continued good health and a good life," said Arthur.

The class also enjoyed a surprise video call from a teacher who couldn't attend the event.
