WARNER ROBINS, Ga. — The Robins Spouses Club spent Tuesday morning packing and assembling boxes of cookies. Those cookies were hand-delivered to all the Airmen in the dorms at Robins Air Force Base.
Club president Ashley Eller says volunteers from all over the base came to help pack these sweet treats.
"Our airmen do so much for the space, for the mission, and we just want to make sure that we give back and we support them," Eller said. "That they know that they have support behind them, that we love them. We just want to spread some holiday cheer."
Eller says there are about 440 airmen in the dorms.
Teresa Faison is the philanthropic vice president for the Robins Spouses Club. She says its all about helping the Airmen feel at home while they are away.
"Everyone here is from somewhere else, you know. Not everyone has a chance to go home, have that tradition to go home for the holidays and so anything we can do to make their stay here comfortable and as pleasant as we can that’s what we try to do," Faison said.
Faison says this event is special to her.
"I have a son that’s in the air force who’s in Minot, North Dakota," she said. "So, what I do here I hope that someone is reciprocating on the other end for my child as well."
The organization received over 6,000 cookies through donations and each airman will get a dozen.
The Robins Spouses Club is a non-profit organization at the air force base and it’s website says it is dedicated to uniting Robins' spouses.
