Warner Robins man shot Monday night while on a walk, police say

They say he saw a group of "juveniles" playing with what he thought were pellet guns. Then, he realized it was a real one when he was shot in the leg.

WARNER ROBINS, Ga. — A man was shot in the 100 block of Oak Grove Road Monday night by a group of teens he thought were playing with pellet guns, according to Lt. Eric Gossman with the Warner Robins Police Department. That's near South Davis Drive.

They say it happened around 7:30 p.m.

Chief Wayne Fisher confirmed that there was an incident and there were officers on the scene, and Gossman said the man is suffering "non-life-threatening" injuries.

In a press release, the police department says the 28-year-old victim was walking when he saw three "juveniles" holding what he thought were pellet guns.

However, he soon "felt a pain in his left leg" and he realized he had been shot by an actual gun, the press release said.

They say he then ran away until he found a bystander.

The man was treated on scene by Houston Healthcare EMS, the Warner Robins Police say, and they then took him to Atrium Health Navicent where he was treated for a gunshot wound to his left calf.

The Warner Robins Fire Department said they had also been dispatched to the scene.
