WARNER ROBINS, Ga. — A 20-year-old man was shot and killed by Warner Robins Police officers on Monday after they say he opened fire at officers, according to press releases from the department and GBI.
The GBI says Mikhal D'Anthony Concepcion, 20, was shot and killed by police officers during the dispute. It happened in the 200 block of N. Sixth Street at around 7 p.m. on Monday night.
The police department was originally called because Concepcion was holding a gun in the front yard of a home, the press release said.
When officers arrived, they say Concepcion fired at the officers and opened fire into a home as he tried to force his way in.
That's when the GBI says Warner Robins Police officers then shot Concepcion.
The Warner Robins Police Department says officers attempted to treat Concepcion's injuries, but he was later pronounced dead after being taken to a local hospital that evening.
The Warner Robins Police Department says the involved officers have been put on leave as is department policy. Jerry Jones with the GBI says three officers were involved in the shooting.
The GBI — which was brought in by the Warner Robins Police Department to investigate the shooting — will hand over their findings to the Houston County District Attorney's Office for review.
The investigation into the shooting is ongoing. If you have any information, you can call the GBI Perry Office at 478-987-4545 of Macon Regional Crimestoppers at 1-877-68CRIME.
