Man arrested after trying to set car on fire with two kids inside, fleeing police, Warner Robins Police say

It happened Friday afternoon at around 1 p.m. Friday afternoon, the Warner Robins Police Department says.

WARNER ROBINS, Ga. — A 51-year-old man is in jail after Warner Robins police say he attempted to light a car on fire with two kids inside and led authorities on a police chase into Bibb County, a press release from the Warner Robins Police Department said.

They say authorities responded to 729 N. Houston Road where Napoleon Gray, 51, was apparently attempting to set a car on fire Friday afternoon. That car, police say, had a 10-year-old and a 1-year-old child inside.

When authorities arrived on scene, they say Gray got into his car and then drove off.

Even though officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop, Gray did not stop his car, leading authorities on a police chase, the press release said.

They say Gray drove to Story Road and Highway 247 which, eventually, took the chase into Bibb County. That's when Bibb County Sheriff's Office and Georgia State Patrol joined the chase.

Eventually, the chase would end roughly 17 miles away from North Houston Road in the parking lot of the Bibb County jail. They say Gray was taken into custody and booked into the Bibb County jail.

Now, the Warner Robins Police say Gray has been charged with aggravated assault and arson.
