WARNER ROBINS, Ga. — The Southeast Region Little League Tournament hit Warner Robins this past week, and brought plenty of excitement with it.
Softball and baseball players from across the southeast flocked to Snellgrove Drive, bringing their families along with them.
The softball tournament finished with North Carolina beating Virginia 9-4, but there was more than one winner this week. Local restaurants in Warner Robins also saw their fair share of foot traffic thanks to the tournaments.
Diego Aguilar, the owner of Fogata Street Tacos, says he's seen twice what he normally sees in sales this week.
"It's just something that you don't see usually," Aguilar said.
He believes the teams coming to town helps many different local businesses in Warner Robins.
"Any influx from outside means a lot to this small little place called Warner Robins," Aguilar said.
Amber Houston, a server at the Metropolis Grill in Warner Robins says she's seen an increase in tips with the family and friends coming in after the Little League games.
"It makes me feel good because I know I did my job, I gave them good customer service and great food, so I know they'll leave out of here happy," Houston said.
The Little League softball tournament wrapped up Friday afternoon, but the baseball games will kick off next week. Aguilar said he hopes the baseball players will help him continue the recent uptick in business.
"If they are hungry and want a Mexican experience, they can come check us out," Aguilar said.
The Little League baseball kicked off on August 1st at 10 a.m. with Georgia set to take on North Carolina.
