What Warner Robins restaurants said how business has been 1 year after brunch bill passed

A year ago, restaurants had to wait until 12:30 p.m. on Sundays to begin serving alcohol. The brunch bill let them serve alcohol at 11 a.m.

WARNER ROBINS, Ga. — It's been a year since Warner Robins changed their brunch ordinance and allowed businesses to start serving liquor at 11:00 a.m. instead of 12:30 p.m. on Sundays.

Over at Props Steak and Seafood Restaurant, they believe some things just go hand in hand, bacon and eggs, peanut butter and jelly and especially booze at brunch.

"Mimosas, bloody Marys, everybody loves that at brunch," executive chef Kory Mack said.

He's been with the company since before the liquor law passed and said that last year, customers would come to their restaurant confused about the rules.

"Customers come here, they've been at other places or they come from surrounding areas, and they're coming from a place where they could drink at 11 p.m." he said.

He said the change has helped them increase their sales, but more importantly, the customer experience.

"We're not per se, a bar, so it hasn't just blown up the bar sales, but it's good when people come in and like I said we don't wanna turn away guests," he said.

Over at Fresco Italiano, General Manager Jessica Santamaria said their customers are in better spirits because of the bill.

"People feel comfortable of having the freedom of choosing the drink they want," she said.

A year ago, she said they would lose customers who didn't want to wait until 12:30 p.m. to bigger cities where there wasn't such an early limit on drinking hours.

"People feel more (interested) in coming to Warner Robins," Santamaria said. "They don't see it just like a little town. It's like more a city now because they have different laws," she said.
