Assistant principal replaced at Huntington Middle School

Assistant Principal at Huntington Middle replaced one month after student brought a gun to school
Gun incident sparked change in staff

At a Houston County school board meeting Tuesday afternoon, the board made the decision to remove the Assistant Principal of Huntington Middle School, Brenda Lee, from her position.

Ernest Harvey, who serves as Assistant Principal of both Morningside and Tucker Elementary schools, will take over.

Lee will be moving to a position at Warner Robins Middle School. Houston County Schools spokesperson, Beth McLaughlin, could not confirm if she would be performing the same job.

The decision comes one month after a student brought a loaded gun into the school in his gym bag, and the school did not inform the parents or students.

Superintendent Dr. Mark Scott says the reason for the decision was "somewhat related" to the incident at Huntington.

He says this was the "best decision for everyone involved."
