WARNER ROBINS, Ga. — The Fourth of July is right around the corner and that means it's almost time for the annual Warner Robins Independence Day Celebration at McConnell-Talbert Stadium.
13WMAZ spoke to the Warner Robins Police Department to find out what you need to know before you arrive.
TIME
Gates open at 6 p.m. and the concert will start at 7:20 p.m. starting with opener Rebecca Howell of Cochran. Then, Better Than Ezra will take the stage. Fireworks will begin at 9:50 p.m. The event is free, so no tickets are required.
SECURITY
"Warner Robins Fire, Houston County Sheriff's Office, Houston County Fire, Houston County Medical Center EMS, [and] Georgia State Patrol help us out," said Acting Police Chief John Wagner.
LAYOUT
Wagner says due to Warner Robins High School getting a new gym, things will be a little different this year.
"The stage is still in the same place. The vendor world place... the vendor world versus the porta-potty area is just swapped around," Wagner said.
WHAT YOU CAN'T BRING
Before you can get inside, Wagner says they'll be searching bags for any prohibited items.
If you do plan on coming to the concert, here are a few things you cannot bring: drones, pets, unsealed water bottles, and hard-sided coolers.
"Please make sure when you are bringing things in that you are bringing the soft-sided coolers. If you are bringing drinks in, they are sealed. No glass," said Wagner. "Diaper bags are allowed of course, [and] any medical bags you have with your insulin, things like that. Small chairs, small umbrellas."
PARKING
This year, there will be at least 10 off-site locations where you can park before the party starts:
- Union Grove Baptist Church Field
- C.B. Watson School - Handicap/VIP ONLY
- Warner Robins High School - Pickup/Dropoff/Uber/Lyft
- Pearl Stephens School Area
- Rumble Academy
- Sacred Heart Catholic Church Complex
- Robins Federal Credit Union
- Middle Georgia State University
- Commercial Circle Area
- City of Warner Robins Municipal Complex
Two roads will be closed for the event:
- 3 p.m. – Demon Valley Drive will close to all vehicular traffic to accommodate parking
- 9:45 p.m. – South Davis drive will close during the fireworks show
"Please, if you are looking for a handicapped parking space, those places fill up quickly. You cannot roll up right before the concert starts and expect to have a spot right there," Wagner said.
