Update: Warner Robins police locate body of abandoned car owner, case upgraded to homicide and boyfriend charged

Only a few hours after a media release about finding Michaela Chaney's abandoned car and torn up apartment, Warner Robins police say they found her body.

WARNER ROBINS, Ga. — Update, 4:22 p.m. on Sat, Feb. 3:

Only a few hours after the Warner Robins police department sent out a media release saying they had found Michaela Chaney's abandoned car, they now say they located her body.

They say the case has been upgraded to a homicide, and that "probable cause existed for Jayveon Bivins to charge him accordingly."

The 23-year-old was booked into the Houston County jail.

They said her body is being processed by the Warner Robins forensics team.

The case is still under investigation, and anyone with information can call Det. K Thompson at 478-302-5380, or Macon Regional Crimestoppers.

The Warner Robins police department found an abandoned car Saturday morning, but their discovery only led to more questions.

In a release, they said officers found the car behind 715 Russell Parkway. They attempted to contact the car's owner, Michaela Chaney, but after several attempts did not find her.

At 9:20 a.m., they were able to contact the Michaela's mother, Tomeka Chaney, at Michaela's apartment at Pacific Park Apartment complex.

Mrs. Chaney said she hadn't been able to contact her daughter in a while. A welfare check had been conducted, but her daughter had not been found.

Mrs. Chaney had a key to the apartment, and when officers went inside they found signs of a struggle.

The police department says the locations are being investigated by forensics.

They said they did contact Jayveon Bivins, the boyfriend of Michaela Chaney, and he is cooperating with officers in the investigation.

The case is still being investigated, and anyone with information can call Det. K Thompson at 478-302-5380, or Macon Regional Crimestoppers.
