WARNER ROBINS, Ga. — For the last three decades, McCall's has been serving up salads, soups, and sandwiches.
"I love the ham and swiss sandwich," says customer Ann Woodard.
"The ham and swiss for sure, and honestly, for me, the pina colada cake," says Estelle Nuckels.
Loyal customers of McCall's on Watson Boulevard have a few ideas on how the restaurant has stood the test of time.
"I think it's just good food. It's not super fancy, but it just tastes really good," says Nuckels.
Whether it's the hot ham and swiss or the tomato Florentine soup, there's something on the menu for everyone. Customers say the atmosphere is even better.
"A community, hometown atmosphere where everything is homemade, it's like 'Cheers' was on TV," says Charles Bond.
Owner Ken McCall says he's seen three generations coming through those doors.
"We have a saying that, 'If you let us, we'll make you family,' and we really try to do that with each and every customer if they'll let us," says McCall.
He says one thing that has kept them successful is listening to what the customer wants. "At the time, people wanted more variety of sandwiches, so that's what we morphed into."
With 30 years down, he says there's no telling how many more they can stick around for.
McCall's will celebrate its 30 years with a ribbon cutting Thursday afternoon at 2 p.m.
