WARNER ROBINS, Ga. — A Warner Robins man accused of shooting at random cars in Florida has been indicted for first-degree premeditated murder, according to a release from the Walton County Sheriff's Office.
A Walton County grand jury indicted 21-year-old Gunner Cole of Warner Robins on Friday for one count of first-degree premeditated murder, five counts of attempted first-degree premeditated murder, and six counts of shooting into an occupied vehicle.
In September 2023, investigators said Cole stood in a roadway and started firing at people.
It happened in the Sandestin area. The town is approximately an hour's drive from Panama City and about an hour and a half drive from Pensacola, according to Google Maps.
They said they found a dead person in a burning car whom Cole had shot,
When Walton County Sheriff’s Deputies found Cole he fired his gun at them. A deputy returned fire and shot Cole in the arm and then taken into custody,
During the shooting, numerous others were also injured.
“This random act of violence took a man away from his family,” Sheriff Michael Adkinson said. “We made a commitment that our investigation would lead to further charges and this indictment is our way of making good on that promise. Nothing will bring their son back. We just hope justice will take its course.”
The investigation is being handled by the Walton County Sheriff’s Office. Deputy Chief Assistant State Attorney Josh Mitchell is prosecuting the case on behalf of Ginger Bowden Madden, State Attorney for the First Judicial Circuit.
