WARNER ROBINS, Ga. — An airman from Warner Robins is being recognized as one of the top pilots in the Air Force.
On Thursday, military officials at the Pentagon awarded Captain Tyler Heck the "Fighter Wingman of the Year.”
He's an F-15 pilot out of Lakenheath Base in England. He joined the Air Force in May 2014.
Since then, he's been deployed to the Middle East, where he flew more than 400 combat hours.
Captain Heck graduated from Houston County High School before heading to the Air Force Academy, and if his name sounds familiar, he’s 13WMAZ anchor Katelyn Heck’s brother.
So, if you missed her on the morning show this morning, that's why. She's up in DC with him.
But from all of us at 13WMAZ, we want to say congratulations Captain Heck and thank you for your service!
