VP Kamala Harris' flight diverted after her Atlanta visit

The vice president's press secretary, Kirsten Allen, said Air Force 2 was diverted due to inclement weather.

ATLANTA — Vice President Kamala Harris' flight was diverted Tuesday evening after leaving Atlanta due to inclement weather.

The vice president's press secretary, Kirsten Allen, said Air Force 2 landed at Washington Dulles International Airport instead of Joint Base Andrews in Maryland because of weather conditions.

"Air Force 2 landed safely at Dulles and all passengers are safe," Allen posted on social media.

Hours earlier, Harris was in Atlanta to meet with community leaders on protecting voting rights. This was the vice president's 10th visit to Georgia since being sworn into office.
