4) Veterans Day Hero Workout

Where:  Praetorian CrossFit, 2001 GA Highway 127 in Perry

When: Saturday Nov. 11 at 9:30 a.m.

This event is a CrossFit workout in honor of Navy Seal Chad Wilkinson, who died by suicide on Oct. 29, 2018, due to the effects of numerous deployments, several TBIs, blast-wave injuries, and PTSD.

It is sponsored by The Step Up Foundation x GORUCK x CrossFit.

Since her husband’s death, Sara Wilkinson, a long-time member of the CrossFit community and trainer, has been promoting awareness around veteran suicide and prevention through her nonprofit, The Step Up Foundation.

You can learn more about Chad's workout and the Step Up Foundation here.

The workout consists of 1000X Step Ups completed as a team, partner, or individual for time.

There are 3 options:

1. Slick/Beginner // No rucksack. You pick the height of the step-ups.
2. Standard/Intermediate // 30#/20# rucksack. You pick the height of the step-ups.
3. Expert // 45# rucksack. Use 20" box for step-ups.

On the event listing, a quote from Sara said Chad was an expert at the workout.

“Even while serving as a SEAL, Chad took time to scale up to the Expert version. There is zero shame in starting Slick, or with Standard weight, or in sharing the steps with a friend," she said.

To register or donate for the event, you can find the event website listed here.
