MACON, Ga. — The Cherry Blossom Festival proudly salutes our veterans! The festival will host Macon-Bibb County's Veterans Day Celebration, kicking off from downtown Macon on Sunday afternoon.
You can enjoy patriotic-themed floats, military units, marching bands and all of the fun as they honor Macon and Central Georgia's hometown heroes.
While they’ll be honoring veterans like they normally do, Hannah Theus, director of marketing for the Cherry Blossom Festival, said that the events path will be different compared to years prior.
“The parade route will be a little different this year. We're going to start here on MLK and Cherry like we do for the Cherry Blossom Parade. But we're going to take a turn at Second Street instead of going all the way up to First [Street],” Theus said.
But if you were thinking of showing up even a tad bit late, Theus says that is not a great idea since there will be a F-15 flyover.
“I would encourage people to get out here early because the F-15 flyover will be right on time a 3 o'clock,” Theus said. “You don't want to miss that.”
The flyover and parade will both get underway at 3 p.m. Sunday.
