Many people are called, but others have never been chosen.
We're talking about jury duty.
The courts call it a civic duty, but some say it's an inconvenience.
Jon Radford of Jones County posted on Facebook asking, "How can they call you for jury duty twice in the span of ten weeks?"
So the 13WMAZ team set out to verify -- can you be called for jury duty twice in a year?
Our source is Erica Woodford, the Bibb County Superior Court clerk.
A few lifelong friends say they have lots of memories together, and some of those memories include telling stories about jury duty.
Carlton Johnson says he usually heard jurors' complaints.
"A lot of people are always saying, 'I have more important things to be doing than being down here,'" said Johnson.
Symuell Franklin said he was getting called a lot.
"I used to get called at least twice a year consistently for about four to five years," Franklin said.
Bibb County Superior Court Clerk Erica Woodford says the jury duty calendar runs from July 1 to June 30 of the following year.
"If you are called in May and then called again in August, then you have to serve both times," said Woodford.
So it is verified, you can be called to serve on jury duty twice in a regular calendar year, but you technically only served once in a jury duty service calendar year.
Today jurors names are randomly selected from a computer system, but back in the day, names used to get pulled from a box.
"Our master pool has about 110,000 citizens in it," said Woodford.
When it comes to jury duty Johnson says he's okay with the luck of of the draw.
"I believe it's one's civic duty to do that," said Johnson.
If you think you should be exempt from jury duty, you'll have to fill out an affidavit listing your reason why.
It's also important to note that the courts can call you to serve at the state and federal level.
