UPDATE: 8-year-old girl, unborn child killed in Cochran accident

UPDATE: We've learned that the two people who were killed Friday morning in a Cochran accident was an 8-year-old girl and an unborn child.

Authorities said the 8 year old and another child were ejected from the car. The children were not wearing seatbelts, police said.

Two adults were also in the car, including the mother who was pregnant. Her unborn child died, according to police.

Authorities say the vehicle the family was in ran a stop sign. They're from Chicago and was possibly traveling back home from Florida.

Their names have not yet been released.

Two peopled died in a wreck involving three cars in Cochran Friday morning.

That's according to Georgia State Patrol Trooper Glenn Altman. He said it happened at the intersection of Highway 87 and Highway 112 around 12:30 a.m.

Altman says the first crash involved a car hitting a fuel truck. The second crash happened when another car traveling north on Highway 87 crashed into the truck.

The names of the victims have not been released.

Altman said the trucker was extracted from the truck and airlifted to a Macon hospital. Four others were also taken to a Macon hospital.

Their conditions are unknown.

Altman said the cause of the wreck is also unknown.

Crews with the Georgia Department of Transportation is sending drivers straight through Cochran to Highway 341. Traffic is blocked off at Highways 26 and 87.
