UPDATE: Woman, 57, found dead after accidental cooking fire burns home in Macon

The fire department rescue crew found 57-year-old Felicia Oliver was found dead near the door of the home.

MACON, Ga. — UPDATE, 3:55 p.m.:

According to the Macon-Bibb County Fire Department, just after 6:30 a.m. Monday, crews came to the home on 831 Glenridge Drive South after getting a call about a person down. The victim, 57-year-old Felicia Oliver, was found unresponsive by her daughter near the door of the home. When they made it to the scene, the rescue unit noticed smoke inside of the home. As they investigated, crews found that there had been a fire in the kitchen. After the investigation, they determined that the fire was accidentally started while Oliver was cooking. She was found dead when the rescue team made it to the home.

A woman is dead after an unknown problem led rescue crews to a Macon home on fire. 

Coroner Leon Jones said firefighters found a woman dead inside a home located at 836 Glenridge Drive on Monday morning.

Deputy coroner Luanne Stone pronounced 57-year-old Felicia Oliver dead around 7:30 a.m. 

Jones says fire crews and sheriff’s investigators are on the scene looking into exactly what happened.
