United in Pink ended its 10th annual children's summer camp Thursday by unveiling their brand new 'Rolling Resource Room.'
"Last summer we sat down and came up with this vision, and we're so blessed to be able to stand here today and say it's now a reality," said Executive Director of United in Pink, Laura Paxton.
Paxton explained in her presentation of the vehicle that sometimes when they're meeting families from out of town, it's in a fast food restaurant, which doesn't provide the ideal environment for survivors to open up.
"The rolling resource room is like a mobile office. So it has those comfortable features that allow us to provide an environment just like we would do at our office," Paxton said.
United in Pink serves a total of 35 counties across Central Georgia and according to Paxton, it was something they really needed.
"Since we're serving those families, it'd be great for us to go to their communities and be able to provide the same resources to them in their community," Paxton said.
United in Pink started after Paxton's mom was diagnosed with breast cancer 14 and a half years ago.
Paxton said 100% of their money stays in Central Georgia, and they couldn't be more grateful for their donors.
"We've got great supporters like Jay Jones who pray with us, who work to financially support us, who speak about us and share our mission with others," Paxton said.
Jay Jones is the corporate Chaplin for the Blue Bird Corporation. They've been dedicated donors.
"As the Chaplin of Blue Bird, we're a Christian company, we believe in helping families. What they're doing here with United in Pink is impacting not only middle Georgia but the state," Jones said. "And when some of the families are going through tough times, we believe in organizations that meet them at their point of need."
