MACON, Ga. — Two people were shot in Macon only a few miles miles away Monday afternoon, the Bibb County Sheriff's Office said in a press release.
At around 1 p.m., Bibb Deputies were notified of a person in distress after being shot within the 2100 block of Liberty Church Road.
Deputies found a 68-year-old man with a gunshot wound. They said that paramedics then arrived and offered the victim medical treatment before taking him to the hospital.
Then, "moments later," investigators received reports of another person being shot, the sheriff's office said in the press release.
This time, it was in the 6500 block of Bevin Drive, only two miles away.
There, they found a 71-year-old man also suffering from a gunshot wound.
Paramedics also offered medical treatment to the man on the scene and then took him to the hospital.
No one else was reported injured.
According to the sheriff's office, medical staff say both men are in stable condition.
Investigators with the Bibb County Sheriff's Office are still trying to determine what led up the shooting, and the circumstances are under investigation.
