MACON, Ga. — Two more people have been arrested for helping aid one of the four Bibb County jail escapees, according to a press release from the Bibb County Sheriff's Office.
They say that 30-year-old Jacorshia Smith and 30-year-old Janecia Green were arrested at around 6 a.m. Tuesday for helping 37-year-old Johnifer Dernard Barnwell escape and avoid capture.
They were arrested in the 1700 block of Campbell Avenue, not far from Mercer University.
Barnwell was captured in Augusta on Sunday at around 8 a.m. On Tuesday, the Bibb County Sheriff's Office said that authorities found around 65 pounds of fentanyl, 20 pounds of meth, 2.5 pounds of cocaine, 4 pounds of heroin and over a pound of marijuana.
They also found multiple guns at the home, too.
Smith was taken to the Bibb County jail and is charged with aiding and abetting. That is a state charge. Smith is also expected to face federal charges as well.
Smith is being held without bond.
Green was arrested and taken to the Bibb County jail and faces state and federal aiding and abetting charges.
Green is also being held without bond.
This brings the total number of people arrested and charged with aiding and abetting one of the Bibb County escapees to five.
Before this morning's arrest, we knew three people — Mykia Williams, Jakaylen Williams and Tymesha Ceiarra Timley — who had been arrested for aiding in the escape of at least one of the Bibb County inmates.
Mykia and Jakaylen was arrested for helping aid all of four Bibb County inmates, and Jakaylen was allegedly in possession of the blue Dodge Challenger used during the escape.
Timley was charged with aiding Marc Anderson, who was caught in a luxury skyrise in Atlanta's Buckhead neighborhood.
