TWIGGS COUNTY, Ga. — The Twiggs County Sheriff's Office is getting a new training facility for deputies.
It will provide classrooms for deputies to take mandatory course for their law enforcement training.
"You could probably spend 75% of your time training. The more you train your people, the safer they are, the better they are, the better job they do, the safer they can do their job and go home at night," says Sheriff Darren Mitchum.
Right now, they only have space to train outdoors with firearms.
Mitchum says, "It makes them better at what they do, it keeps them safer while they're doing it, and it enables them to provide better professional service to the people they're dealing with."
The facility will be built on the training range property off Highway 80.
