Twiggs Academy honors Isaiah Warren 1 year after his death

Isaiah Warren passed away one year ago in a car wreck in Bleckley County.

JEFFERSONVILLE, Ga. — For the past year, people in Twiggs County have been grieving the loss of Isaiah Warren.

Wednesday was especially hard for people at his school, Twiggs Academy. That's because one year ago on Aug. 28, 17-year-old Warren died in a car wreck.

His jeep lost control, and flipped over on Churchwell Road in Bleckley County.

His friends, and girlfriend Rachel Stevens, said he is missed daily.

"I just think that everyone should've know Isaiah because he was a very sweet boy," Stevens said.

A year since his passing, it's still hard for people to talk about. So instead, people got to writing notes and memories on yellow balloons.

People wrote things like "you were the very best part of me" and "we all miss you" and "I wish I could of played baseball with you." The balloons were released in the school yard after chapel service.

Warren's friend Jacob Smith said Warren was a great baseball player who loved representing his school team.

"Once he came here, it was all history. We just became close friends to the point where we were pretty much brothers," Smith said.

Smith said he'll never forget how Warren lived so boldly.

"He was very outgoing, he loved each and everybody that he met and talked to. He didn't care what other people think. He just - he was himself around everybody and anybody. He just was just outgoing, he was different," Smith said.

Stevens said Warren was a country-boy through and through.

"He loved just getting in his truck and going like hog-hunting, deer hunting. I think every hunting you could do possibly, he did it," Stevens said.

If grief proves how much someone was loved, Twiggs Academy is proof that Isaiah Warren was adored, just as much as he adored others.

"He was loving - and he loved his mom so much. I think he talked to his mom more than he talked to any of us. That was his best friend," Stevens said.

Warren's mom, Denise Warren is the head of school at Twiggs Academy. She has a sign with scripture by her door that reads "Do not fear, for I am with you," from Isaiah 41:10.

Twiggs Academy started a scholarship in Warren's honor since he passed.
