GDOT: I-16 reopened after early morning flooding in Macon

A caller reported water several feet deep in some stretches and the 511 Georgia map shows the westbound lane is not moving right now.

MACON, Ga. — UPDATE: 9:32 a.m. I-16 is reopened after early morning flooding.

Traffic is backed up on I-16 West towards Coliseum Drive, according to the Georgia Department of Transportation.

A caller reported water several feet deep in some stretches and the 511 Georgia map shows the westbound lane is not moving right now.

Multiple callers say they have not moved in over two hours. There is flooding and traffic backed up on that stretch.

The Georgia 511 map also shows slowing and stoppages along I-75 south through the interchange. The area should be avoided if possible. Remember to drive slower and be cautious of standing water during the morning commute, especially through the construction zones along the interchange.
