Three men sentenced to life for murdering Peach County 8-year-old

Jai’Mel Anderson died in January 2015 after someone shot through the door of his stepfather’s Fort Valley apartment.

A judge on Tuesday sentenced three men to life in prison without parole after being convicted in the shooting death of a Fort Valley boy.

Kristian Wipfel, Dennis Eason and Tevan Sams were each convicted of several charges, including murder.

According to testimony in the trial, the three men went to the Indian Oaks Apartments in January 2015 and fired more than a dozen shots through the door.

They killed 8-year-old Jai'mel Anderson.

Witnesses says the target was actually Anderson's mother's boyfriend, because he didn't pay for marijuana.

The Peach County jury deliberated for about four hours today after a six-day trial.

District Attorney David Cooke said, "I'm so proud of (prosectors) Cindy Adams and Elizabeth Bobbitt for working tirelessly to get justice for Jai'mel and his family. This was a justified verdict and the punishment fit the crime."
