Third Bibb County inmate found in Augusta

Johnifer Barnwell was found in Augusta in a home on Alpine Drive. The FBI, says he had a large amount of drugs they suspect to be fentanyl, heroin, meth, and weed.

AUGUSTA, Ga. — Another Bibb County escaped inmate is captured. Sunday morning's arrest means there is only one more inmate on the loose.

Just after 8:00 a.m. the FBI, along with the  Bibb County Sheriff's Office Gang Unit and the Richmond County Sheriff's Office found 37-year-old Johnifer Barnwell at a home in Augusta.

Law enforcement found him in the 3000 block of Alpine Drive with a large amount of drugs. The FBI suspects it to be meth, heroin, cocaine and fentanyl, but that has not been confirmed by a lab.

The FBI originally arrested Barnwell because they had reason to believe he was the leader of a drug trafficking organization. Just 14 days before his escape, a jury found him guilty on six counts of drug trafficking charges.

He is guilty of possession with plans to distribute drugs like fentanyl, heroin, and meth.

121 miles away from the Bibb County jail, Barnwell was the farthest of the escaped inmates, so far.

At the end of October, 11 days after the search started,  the U.S. Marshals Office arrested  29-year-old Chavis Stokes in Montezuma.

He is looking at a felony escape charge and faces up to 10 years in prison on top of the two dozen charges he already has.

Eight days after Stokes' arrest,  The Bibb County Sheriff's, Georgia State Patrol and U.S. Marshal's Office arrested 25-year-old Marc Anderson.

They found him in Buckhead at a luxury high-rise apartment complex called Huntley Apartments.

Anderson has three aggravated assault charges dating back to 2020.

That leaves an accused murderer on the loose. Law enforcement still need your help in finding 52-year-old Joey Fournier.

He is charged with killing his ex-girlfriend Cynthia Berry. It happened in the Barrington Hall subdivision in Macon.

Berry filed a protective order against Fournier in 2021, but in February 2022 she was murdered.

She only lived in the home for a month, and her family told 13WMAZ she moved there to get away from Fournier.

13WMAZ reached out to BSO to see what they are doing to find him, and if there were any updates in that search. They said they could not release this information.

We also asked them for more details on Barnwell's arrest like what his connection to the home in Augusta is, and how they knew he'd be in Augusta, but those questions could also not be answered.

Anyone with information on the possible location of 52-year-old Joey Fournier should call the FBI’s tip line at 1-800-CALL-FBI(1-800-225-5324), the USMS at 1-877-WANTED2. Tips may also be submitted online at tips.fbi.gov or USMS Tip App.
