MACON, Ga. — This December, Theatre Macon brought “Elf the Musical” to the stage.
The cast and crew prepared for more than two months before the show debuted on December 6.
“I mean, I’m really excited for everyone to see this, because we’ve been working really hard,” cast-member Katie Carter said.
Trey English is the junior high band director at the Academy for Classical Education in Macon.
English also musical directs for the Youth Artist Company shows at Theatre Macon.
But, this was the first production he has performed onstage for with Theatre Macon.
“I’m excited to be onstage and preform in front of people,” English said.
English and Carter are joined on stage by Suzanne and Bob Minarine, a couple who’s performed in three Theatre Macon shows together over the past six years.
“I’m excited,” Suzanne Minarcine said. “I love the music, I love my sweet husband being a grouchy, mean old man, because that’s not his nature.”
Bob Minarcine played the role of cranky businessman Mr. Greenway, owner of the publishing firm where Buddy the Elf’s father worked in “Elf the Musical.”
“I just enjoy the experience of meeting other people that we have not met before and getting in this environment and having a great time together,” Bob Minarcine said.
The musical follows the story of Buddy the Elf as he travels from Santa's Workshop at the North Pole to New York City to meet his biological father.
Theatre Macon’s production of “Elf the Musical” runs Thursday through Sunday until December 21. All showings are sold out.
