Thanksgiving is almost here | Here's where you can pick up a turkey in Central Georgia

The holiday season is here, and many organizations are in a giving mood around Central Georgia. Here are some places you can pick up a turkey for Thanksgiving.

MACON, Ga. — The holiday season is here, and many organizations are in a giving mood around Central Georgia. With Thanksgiving right around the corner, several groups will be holding turkey giveaways to ensure the Central Georgia community is well-fed for the holidays. Here are some of the places you can pick up a turkey: 

Billy’s Clubhouse

Billy’s Clubhouse on Forest Hill Road will be holding a Thanksgiving Potluck on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 28. Doors open at 7 p.m., and dinner starts at 8 p.m. This is the eighth year of Billy’s holding a Thanksgiving Potluck Party, and to celebrate, they’ll have one free drink for each person who brings a dish. 

Feed the City

Feed the City will be giving out 1,500 turkeys and sides in a drive through event from 10 a.m. to noon on Nov. 23 in Fort Valley. The event will take place in the parking lot of Hope Church at 204 Sullivan Road, and will last until noon, or until supplies run out.

Forrest B. Johnson & Associates

Forrest B. Johnson & Associates will be giving away 1,200 meals across four locations in Macon at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 27. The meals will be catered by S&S Cafeteria’s and Anderson’s Diner, and will be available for pickup at Burdell Hunt Elementary School, Southwest High School, L.H. Williams Elementary School and Unionville Baptist Church.

Georgia Radio Alliance

The Georgia Radio Alliance is holding its annual turkey giveaway on Saturday, Nov. 23 in the parking lot of Overtyme Bar & Grille in Macon. They’re giving out a free turkey, rolls, a two-liter drink and more at the drive-through event. The giveaway will start at noon, and will last until supplies run out.

Highly Favored Ministries

Highly Favored Ministries will be holding a turkey giveaway on Nov. 23 at Sewell Circle Park in Warner Robins, and is asking for donations from the Central Georgia community. You can donate via CashApp at $HIGHLYFM, or PayPal at highlyfavoredministries15@gmail.com. The giveaway starts at 11 a.m. and will last until supplies run out.

Mikado Baptist Church

Mikado Baptist Church in Macon will be giving out canned goods and frozen turkeys on Saturday, Nov. 23. The church is located at 6751 Houston Road, and the giveaway will last from 10 a.m. to noon.

Mount Tilla Baptist Church

Mount Tilla Baptist church will be giving away turkeys in Irwinton on Saturday, Nov. 23 at 11:00 a.m. Per the church’s website, they are looking to donate 100 turkeys to families around the community. If you would like to support Mount Tilla, you can donate via their website.

Piedmont Brewery & Kitchen

Piedmont Brewery in Macon is taking orders for Thanksgiving meals. Several meats and sides are available, and a 5-pound turkey costs $30. The pick-up date is on Nov. 26 and 27, and all orders are to be submitted to melissa@piedmontbrewery.com.

S&S Cafeterias 

S&S Cafeterias in Macon will be taking orders for Thanksgiving meals. They sell combination dinners, or items can be individually ordered. A sliced roast turkey runs $12, and all orders require a 48-hour notice before pickup. Pickup will only be available at the Bloomfield Village location, as the Riverside location is still closed.

The Sanctuary of Macon

The Sanctuary of Macon at 1780 Tucker Road will be serving ‘Thanksgiving fixings’ to 300 families at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 23. Each family will receive a turkey, green beans, corn stuffing, cranberry sauce and gravy. The event will run as long as supplies last.

Satterfield’s BBQ

Satterfield’s BBQ will be selling Thanksgiving meals, though all orders must be placed by the end of the night on Wednesday, Nov. 20. They are offering individual items, including multiple different meats and sides, including a 22-pound turkey or a 12-pound ham. Pickup can be scheduled for Nov. 26 or 27. 

The Swanson

The Swanson Restaurant in Perry will be offering to-go meals for Thanksgiving. All orders must be placed by Nov. 22, and they will be available for pickup on Nov. 27 and Nov. 28. A full Thanksgiving meal costs $129, and smaller purchases are available.
