JACKSONVILLE, Ga. — An escaped inmate is back in jail Wednesday morning thanks to some central Georgia deputies.
Telfair County Sheriff Chris Steverson posted on Facebook, saying his deputies teamed up with Coffee County deputies and K-9 unit and Georgia Department of Corrections officers to chase down 32-year-old James Mitchell Metts.
He escaped out of Bacon County in south Georgia a few days ago.
Law enforcement spotted him in Jacksonville, Georgia Tuesday evening.
In the post, Steverson says he tried to run, but they were able to catch him.
The Georgia Department of Corrections says Metts was originally locked up on burglary and theft charges out of Coffee and Ben Hill Counties.
