Teen arrested in murder at Milledgeville Manor

Neither Grable nor Cummings lived at the Milledgeville Manor apartments where Cummings was killed.

Milledgeville — A Milledgeville teen turned himself around 11:00 a.m. Tuesday morning after a man was killed at the Milledgeville Manor apartments Monday night.

18-year-old Monterious Grable was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and murder in the death of 25-year-old Ladarrius Cummings. According to the Baldwin County Sheriff's Office, the pair were involved in a fight outside of apartment building B at Milledgeville Manor.

Captain Brad King said the fight allegedly may have been related to items stolen from Cummings' home. Cummings was shot around 6:00 p.m. Monday and was transported to Navicent Health Baldwin and later Navicent Health in Macon where he was pronounced dead just before midnight.

Milledgeville Manor residents and the sheriff's office claim that Grable and Cummings were friends despite the deadly argument. Neither of them lived at the apartment complex. King said that violence surrounding the complex was not uncommon.

"Historically, that has been a hotbed of drug activity, gang activity, and of course, with both of those comes your violence. It is not uncommon to have gun violence in and around that area," King said.

In 2017, 23 people in Milledgeville and Baldwin County were arrested in gang related police raids relating to over 60 drive-by shootings between 2015 and 2017. The arrests focused on three gangs, one of which were the Gangster Disciples. The Baldwin County Sheriff's Office said that at the time the complex was a hub for the criminal organization.
