ATLANTA — Some Clark Atlanta University students got quite the surprise on Tuesday when GRAMMY Award-winning singer-songwriter T-Pain crashed their regularly scheduled class.

The artist, alongside money educator The Budgetnista, interrupted the course and turned it into a "Progress 101" class focused on financial basics as part of the banking app Chime's Financial Literacy Month initiative. In addition, the students received tote bags, T-shirts, and autographed coloring budget books.

"The easiest way to get into financial progress and the easiest way to convey financial education is just to start a conversation about it," T-Pain said during the class.

A recent survey conducted by Chime found that a staggering 32% of Americans admit to learning nothing about personal finance during their formal education, prompting the push for more financial knowledge in schools.

As part of the initiative, T-Pain will give away signed coloring budgets, tickets to his tour and financial advising sessions for life on Chime's social channels all month long.
