SUGAR LAND, Texas — “Christmas was not fun."
That's coming from a Houston-area mom who has been looking for her son since November.
Vicki Urrutia said this was the first Christmas she's ever had without her son Justin Urrutia.
"Instead of decorating for Christmas, I decorated for the Sugar Bowl, putting out an orange tree," said Vicki. "I didn’t do Christmas. No.”
Justin, who is 41 years old, was last seen on Nov. 6 by his mother who lives one street over. She said everything seemed normal at the time, but it wasn't until she couldn't reach him the next day that she became concerned.
Two days after Justin was reported missing, Vicki got a call from the Pecos County Sheriff's Office saying they found his car. The Pecos County Sheriff's Office is in Fort Stockton, Texas.
"And that’s about seven and a half hours from here," Vicki said.
Justin's wrecked car was found off of I-10 near mile marker 325.
"He had driven it through a ranch gate and halfway up what they call a mesa and it had stalled and he was turning around to come back down, but it was just there," Vicki said.
Inside the car were Justin's wallet and his cell phone. There were also unopened energy drinks that Vicki said her son would never drink.
"It’s very much like the Jason Landry missing case," Vicki said. "You know they found Jason’s wallet, they found Jason’s phone. There was an accident. It was in a rural area.”
Vicki said she had no idea how her son's car could've ended up way out there so she started doing some investigating. It turned out that there were charges made to his credit cards at gas stations in the Texas Hill Country area and San Antonio. His GPS even showed he went to an ice house in Seguin.
Confused with nowhere to turn, Vicki hired Colman Ryan, a private investigator, to help find her son. Ryan said he's hopeful because they have Justin's cellphone and his computer. Ryan said the best-case scenario is that he's able to recreate a digital map showing the route Justin took that night in November. Unfortunately, no surveillance video of Justin has surfaced.
"Time is of the essence," Ryan said. "Most video is around for a week, maybe two weeks. The more time that goes by the less chance you have of getting that evidence.”
Despite being missing for two months, Vicki said she's holding on to hope.
