MACON, Ga. — S&S Cafeteria started its business back in 1936, which makes it 83-years-old.
Jimmy Scott has worked there for three-quarters of that history.
"You've got liver and onions you got chicken pan pie and you've got country steak," Scott said.
S&S Cafeteria opened up for lunch and Jimmy Scott is just getting warmed up.
"My job is to take care of customers," he said.
And take care of them he does, but he has a lot of experience. He began working at the restaurant about the time he could get a job.
"I wiped pots and I washed dishes," Scott said.
Then the personable guy got a promotion
For 62 years he's done the same thing, coming in every day at 7:30 a.m.
"Never missed a day in my life," Scott said.
That's saying a lot because Scott is 80-years-old.
He says the people that go through the line keep him young.
"I'm proud of these customers that come in here and I"m so happy to see them and they put a smile on my face when they come in here," he said.
Eric Hall is a manager at the restaurant and says after all of these years, Jimmy is an icon.
"Jimmy Scott is S&S. He is a local celebrity people see him around town and they know S&S Cafeteria," Hall said.
So the next time you want a meat and two, check out the Bloomfield restaurant. Scott will be waiting with a smile.
