PERRY, Ga. — There is so much to see and do at the Georgia National Fair, but a new exhibit may catch your eye this year.
Junior Journalist Jo'vante' Passard headed out to the fairgrounds to check out the Seedlings to Solutions exhibit, a new timber exhibit aimed to help people better understand the importance of trees and timber in our daily lives.
The exhibit has many visual features, including indoor and outdoor exhibits, touch-screen elements, and interesting readings about all of the ways timber is a part of our everyday lives.
Jo'vante' walked through the exhibit with Chelsea York who works for the Georgia Forestry Commission, and she told him what the reason for opening the exhibit is.
She explained to Jo'vante' that the exhibit is aimed at helping people understand the complex timber industry, and give people a perspective that applies to their daily lives to help them understand the importance of the business.
Jo'vante' also spoke with a representative from UGA's extension campus, who detailed some of the interesting things that timber is used for that people may not realize. He put a special emphasis on how important trees are for coffee production.
The exhibit will be accessible through the duration of the fair, so get out and see it before it's too late!
