MACON, Ga. — Braylon Hill came to SOAR Academy when he was in Ballard Hudson Middle School.
"I think I would not have graduated high school if I didn't come here," says Hill.
He came behind a few years in school, and not knowing how much the academy would push him forward. It was a goal he set to make himself proud - as well as his mom.
"I wanted my mom to know I'm on track and I'm actually going to get on track," says Hill.
SOAR Academy aims to help Bibb students do many things, including getting their high school diploma and workforce certification. It also helps students like Hill, who may be behind stay on track, says principal Julia Daniely.
"We are that support to help student get back on track so they're ready for graduation," says Daniely.
Some students may have to spend summer learning to get back on course, but the personalized learning makes sure students understand the material and not get forgotten about.
"We look at their likes, dislikes, strengths and challenges. They set their own goals. We have school how students need us to have it," explained Daniely.
Hill credits the personalized learning for helping him, but also his teachers.
"Motivation that my teachers gave me was so great. It really helped me," says Daniely.
