A Satterfield's press release says Maconite Marla Kaplan now shares ownership of Satterfield's with her husband Ben Hampton of Atlanta's Heirloom Market BBQ.

The two recently moved to the Macon area and purchased Satterfield's from John McCord. Now, the couple will carry on the 35-year legacy at Satterfield's.

Both Marla and Ben have rich backgrounds in the business field.

As the daughter and granddaughter of retailers who own stores like Carol's Linens, Stephen's and Chanin's clothing stores, Marla has a deeply personal background with family-owned businesses. Ben is already hitting the ground running in the barbecue business from years spent at Heirloom Market BBQ.

The duo plan to keep favorites from the restaurant's original menu with an addition of some fresh ideas and catering menus.

The restaurant is expected to officially reopen some time in January.
