SANDERSVILLE, Ga. — A 20-year-old Sparta man is charged with vehicular homicide after apparently killing a 55-year-old man in Washington County during a crash, Sheriff Joel Cochran said.
He says Zacarias Amir Lynn was charged by Georgia State Patrol in the death of Bobby Dalton. Jail records show Lynn was arrested on Friday.
It happened at 6:30 a.m. on West Church Street just outside of Sandersville on Sunday.
Dalton was making a left-hand turn when Cochran said Lynn "t-boned" Dalton's Toyota Tacoma while attempting to pass in a no-passing land.
Lynn faces two charges: passing in a no-passing zone and second-degree vehicular homicide.
Under Georgia Statute, second-degree vehicular homicide has a minimum sentence of three years and a maximum sentence of 15 years. If he is considered a habitual violator and his license was revoked, he could face up to 20 years in prison.
Cochran said the case is being investigated by the Georgia State Patrol.
