Robins Air Force Base releases statement after 14-year-old boy killed in wall collapse

A concrete wall in the men's locker room collapsed Monday afternoon, Houston County Coroner James Williams says. Here's what we are learning right now

ROBINS AIR FORCE BASE, Ga. — Robins Air Force Base has released a statement after a 14-year-old boy was killed Monday at the Heritage Club pool on base.

Four minors were hurt after a wall collapsed at the Air Force Base at around 3 p.m. on Monday, Houston County Coroner James Williams confirmed.

"We remain committed to supporting these families as we navigate through this difficult time for Team Robins," Robins Air Force Base said in a statement.

A spokesperson for the Air Force base says it happened in the men's locker room. They say one person was treated on the scene and three others were taken to a local hospital where a 14-year-old would die from his injuries.

Williams also has outlined more about the course of the death investigation.

He says the 14-year-old's body will be taken to the GBI Crime Lab where an autopsy is scheduled for this week.

Like the base, Williams confirmed that it happened inside a restroom area at the Heritage Pool on base, and he says the wall was made of concrete.

We don't know the conditions of the other minors who were hurt.

After the collapse, the pool has been closed until further notice.
